About The Yeshe Buddhist Centre
Yeshe Buddhist Centre
‘Yeshe’ is the Tibetan word for Wisdom, and the name of our group which was given to us by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Lama Zopa is the spiritual director of the FPMT worldwide network of centres.

YBC was established in Cumbria in 2001. A few students of Lama Thubten Yeshe (1935 – 1984) have lived and practised informally in this area since the inception of the original FPMT centre at Conishead Priory in 1976. Nowadays, new students have joined old, and a diverse group of practitioners meet on a regular basis. Presently we are meeting at the Society of Friends (Quakers) Meeting House in Cartmel, every Wednesday evening, with other events planned at Greenodd Village Hall, the Fellside Centre in Kendal and in the homes of members of the group. We extend a warm welcome to Cumbrian residents and visitors to this lovely corner of the UK. To contact the Yeshe Buddhist Centre please use the contact form
