![]() Discovering Buddhism The course is a great introduction to newcomers, a wonderful refresher course for the more experienced and highly recommended for those now wishing to commit to a deeper level of study and experiential meditation practice. Whatever your starting point you can take it at your own speed and own level. The complete course offers retreats, meditation and written assessments but you can also attend the weekly class without commitment. The course’s general theme is “Awakening the limitless potential of your mind achieving all peace and happiness”. It has not been designed as an academic study of Buddhism, but is intended to help to practically change your life. Its aim is to give participants a solid footing in the practice of Mahayana Buddhism. By engaging in this programme, participants will receive an experiential taste of the Buddha's teachings, some retreat experience, and will have the skills they need to make their lives most meaningful. The full course covers 14 subject areas. Students can aim to complete the full course - attending teachings and meditations, reading texts and transcripts (at home), and doing short retreats – or something less than this at the level they choose. For example, just coming to the weekly teaching/meditation sessions that will be on Wednesday evenings. Those participating fully and fulfilling all requirements can receive a certificate of completion. This will enable them to support others and teach themselves, if they wish, in this growing centre or in other F.P.M.T. centres. The course will include teachings by Geshe Tashi Tsering and other visiting teachers. The 14 subject areas are:- 1. Mind and Its Potential 2. How to Meditate 3. Presenting the Path 4.
